One Saturday, just a regular Saturday, I was reading a book about babies dreams while my mom was putting my twin babies, Dinah and Wren, to sleep. Then, when she came out, I noticed that on the floor was Wren’s stuffed bunny.
“Mom, can I go inside Wren and Dinah’s room to give Wren her stuffed bunny?” I asked.
My mom said, “Yes.”
So I opened the door and I saw that Dinah and Wren were floating out of their cribs onto the ceiling! They were awake and smiling and laughing and playing around in the air. I wanted to play with them in the air too, so I dropped the bunny and grabbed onto Dinah’s leg. As soon as I grabbed onto her leg though, we went through the ceiling, up through the attic, out of the house. It felt like I was swimming through cold water. And then it was like a movie in fast forward because we were going really fast.
Then we slowed down in the earth’s atmosphere. That was really cool! I saw all the continents below me, all like greenish-brown and I saw a few lakes in them that are the regular color. The babies were still laughing and playing in the air, and that made me laugh too. And then we were in space. It felt like I was a superhero! It was really exciting!
We were flying through space. Space wasn’t all dark like you’d think. I could see the planets and I almost saw what was in Saturn’s rings, It looked like little chunks of ice and rock, if you wanted to know. I wasn’t dying because the babies were not dying, and it was like I was part of them.
We passed signs that said, “Baby Land up ahead!” And then I saw the planet, Baby Land (like the signs said). So we sped up again and went through Baby Land’s atmosphere and landed right on the ground of Baby Land. I felt like I was really soft and cuddly, because it was so exciting. And the planet was soft and cuddly too. The ground and everything there was soft and cuddly.
There were tons of other babies there that I guess had been in their cribs for a nap too. Some babies were in pajamas, because it was night where they lived, and some babies were in their regular clothes. Dinah and Wren started playing around, and Wren went into a building that said “Invention Shop.” I went to the window, and I saw that she was making a little robot hand that was made for tickling babies. And there were other babies making inventions, like one was a TV with buttons that said “Baby Einstein,” and the buttons had pictures of different parts of Baby Einstein, that when you pushed it, it showed it on the screen on there. And there was another baby with brown skin making an invention that was a triple tickling hand that tickled three babies at once.
The brown-skinned baby went out of the Invention Shop, and I follwed her to a Baby Restaurant. I peeked in the window. It had strained peaches, strawberries, whole milk, and other foods that babies like. Some babies were in high chairs, but some were crawling on the floor and eating. There were buttons on the seats, and they pushed the button and food they liked came right out of the table. The buttons could tell which baby was which and what they like to eat. And there was another baby in the restaurant that was done eating, and I followed that baby. It went into a neighborhood of baby houses. They looked like real houses but baby-sized. The furniture was little baby-sized chairs, do you know what I’m talking about? Okay, good. And in one of them, one baby was putting up a baby-sized Christmas tree. The ornaments had pictures of people on them, and I guessed they were part of the baby’s family.
And in another house there was this baby that was practicing piano, and in that same house there was a baby practicing a guitar. And the instsruments were baby-sized too. I was having really fun exploring Baby Land!
And then this baby that was practicing guitar came out of the house, and I followed her, and she stopped in front of a door that was kid-sized. It was the only thing in Baby Land that wasn’t soft and cuddly. I looked at the door for more time, and it said, “Another world through this door, which is Kid Land.” And it had a lock on it. The lock was green and shaped like a kid reading a comic book. Since I was the only kid at Baby Land, I wondered if there would be a key in my pocket.
So, I reached into my pocket, and there was a key! The key had seventeen points on one side, because, you know, seventeen is the last year of kids since eighteen is adult. And then right before I was going to unlock the door, this big siren came on that said, “GOO-GOO, GA-GA.” So I unlocked the door right before the floor sprang up and sent me and Dinah and Wren flying through space back into our world. We were flying through space faster than before. We were dumped through earth’s atmosphere, through our house with no holes and back into the babies’ room. Right after we got there, my mom came in and I think that’s why the siren rang, so that me and the babies would be back in the room before my mom came in.
The bunny was still on the floor since I dropped it.
My mom said, “What took you so long?”
“Dinah and Wren were awake, and I rocked them back to sleep.”
I didn’t want the babies to cry, because I thought if I told my mom about Baby Land she would tell everyone else, and they would go into babies’s rooms when they were going down for a nap and they would grab onto babies legs and then they would control Baby Land.
“Can I play in my room now?” I asked her.
“Yes,” she said.
In my room, right as I picked up a toy I started floating. I dropped the toy and I kept floating, and I was sent to Kid Land.
The end
